What’d you sleep in last night? A baggy tee or ratty pajamas with holes? Chimera Sleepwear founder Domizia Vanni was right there with you: “I started reflecting on how I was shopping for sleepwear and the answer was pretty easy: I didn’t,” says Vanni, who felt lost at her full-time styling gig, so she took measures into her own hands—literally. “When I started doing research to launch Chimera during the pandemic, I had a very clear idea in my mind: to create something sustainable and cool at the same time.”

The result: a nostalgic, ultra-feminine, and wholly unique collection of sleepwear sets, pajamas, and sexy, intimate-adjacent separates that can moonlight as evening wear. While Vanni, who gleans inspiration from 15th and 16th century fashion, is technically a one-woman team designing everything from her studio in Tuscany, Italy, she works with local suppliers, pattern makers, and sewers to get each piece out the door. Every romantic style is crafted from “forgotten treasures”—like a deadstock Versace Ottanio silk from 2013—that would otherwise have ended up in a landfill, and they’re shipped in 100% recycled materials. “I want to promote the concept of design for durability and longevity through quality.”

Vanni designs for a woman who values transparency, conscious consumption, and out-of-the-box style—but even more, one who enjoys a good slumber. “Wearing Chimera means expressing yourself during our most restorative and self-care moment: sleeping.”
